According to Deadbase 4:20 was started by some deadheads in a dorm room at Harvard.

I remember before smartphones the DSO sound guy would put a Deadbase next to the SBD at setbreak to guess the show.

Such a cool site, find something new all the time.

I love doing the 30 Days of Dead but it has ruined it for me, it makes it too easy haha.

I think this year I’m going to limit myself to older resources like Deadbase, just to feel something again 🤣

I’ll take a look at my copy of Deadbase when I’m home. Can at least get a rough estimate

Per CGPT:

I couldn’t find any documented instances of Jerry swapping the 2nd and 3rd verses in his live performances. While fans occasionally note subtle lyrical variations in different shows, there’s no evidence in setlists, DeadBase archives, or fan forums of verse-reversal.

1970. In my mind I always called bullshit, because I had Deadbase 10 or whatever. After listening to the Bobby 75 show, I realize that I was truly a small minded man. Anyway, Rocco is still around Columbus, Ohio.

I listened to this one yesterday, randomly but I remembered a review in Deadbase about the Playin. Someone, maybe Dolgushkin remembered it as a beast, and it is.

Dig, but we both should’ve heard this tune more than we did in concert. And how do you know you’ve only heard the song once live? Do you have personal stats of your Grateful Dead tour? I do as you know. I took inspiration from Deadbase and I pick up the book more often than I thought I would

they broke into Casey, & she elbowed me in the ribs & said, "They haven't played this in like 9 years."

And she was absolutely right, & I'd never loved anyone more, than in that moment, because I had 3 copies of Deadbase, & had no idea.

Then Tricia said that thing that rendered me MUTE 🔇

i know their history well, like the Everyday Companion (ala DeadBase and Pharmer’s Almanac) side of stats

I always thought it was hilarious that Deadbase made a point of putting simply "General Admission: $7.50" as liner notes for that show. Looks like as a student you got yours for $6.50. A worthy investment

These were the only two deadbase calls out but yeah I can definitely see not wanting to call them slipknot

Yep just found that in deadbase

3/12/85 berkeley community theater: my definition of a low-calorie setlist. matt kelly on harmonica on LITTLE RED ROOSTER (though not NOT FADE AWAY, that’s deadbase error). 58-minute PLAYING IN THE BAND > DRUMZ > SPACE > HE’S GONE > THROWING STONES > NOT FADE […]

There was an official book called The Phish Book put out in the late 90’s. Lots of great photos and good info. If you want something nerdier lol for Pharmers Almanac. Akin to the Deadbase series.

Oh yes

@gratefulseconds.bsky.social and I have discussed the idea of trying to parse how the popularity of shows changes after official release, by looking at old Deadbase surveys

The most common heavy hitter Jerry shows were 2.6.72 and 3.18.78 I think. The 80 show was in a big second tier
