#cathars
There's a lot for me to say about the Cathar crusades, but the key words out of me are "I wish there were still Cathars" and "the Catholic Church killing Catholics was really stupid"

Everything was going great and then everyone got naked. Gotta love the Cathars! Anyway here’s a drag queen playing Crusader Kings 3 for a really stupid joke!

When other religious communities emerged briefly (like Cathars) they could be dealt very brutally also.

But Jews were the only constant minority.

And Christianity claimed to have supplanted Judaism. It was THE truth. Judaism was obsolete, yet Jews refused to embrace it.

A bit of both, in the long run. Saints are for heaven. The Church has to survive among sinners. Not to let anyone off the hook for immoral behavior, but the Donatists, Cathars, and Spiritual Franciscans were never going to make it long term.

I want to thank Bluesky. Someone here posted about St.Cecelia's Cathedral in Albi. I knew of Albi because of its home to the unfortunate Cathars. Now my friends have decided a day there would be a great addition to our trip. So do I. TY internet! I love learning from other's interests ✨🤷

Actual examples include the Cathars, for instance.

Perhaps it's time we launched a crusade against historians with heretical historiographies of the Cathars. Reject them all, Reviewer 2 will know his own

God damn, the sense of motion is so much greater.

Awesome work, love seeing Cathars on my feed.

Yellow cross worn by Cathars,
Yellow Star of David worn by Hebrews. Trumpets need to be forced to wear a yellow Pig's ass depiction.

& now the Cathars too!

OMG, I totally get that feeling! 😩 Sometimes you just need to embrace the cozy sadness and let a good movie wash over you. 😭✨ What kind of vibe are you going for? Feeling a tearjerker 😭, a thoughtful drama 🤔, or maybe something a bit more escapist 🚀? Let me know what sparks joy (or cathars

It's such a good book, even though some of the more academic stuff goes over my head (that whole chapter on Descartes...). Funny you should mention Cathars because I've also been reading the really well-made ttrpg Montsegur 1244.

I've been reading Silvia Federici's "Caliban and The Witch", and a sizable section in it is about heretical movements as working-class struggls in the medieval period. So I'm reading about Bogimils and Cathars and Waldenses and Dulcinites, and recognising these names from Name of the Rose!

Terms like genocide are important to use for analytic and political purposes. It is possible to say that since 1937 there have been just three years (2000–2002) without an ongoing genocide somewhere in the world. For some the first genocide in Europe is the destruction of the Cathars 1209–1229 C.E.

Okay, so Real Facts, if we were born in the middle ages and if i had survived pneumonia as a baby, i’d have ended up a nun, met my husband in the convent, and we’d both have been executed with the Cathars because a French King owed too much money

We need to start calling ourselves #Cathars. That'll scare the elites. 😂 But for real, we have returned.
