Pals nickname me Dai, and I'm just a casual artist who loves to draw and design OCs of the monster, kaiju, and monsterfolk variety! 🦕🐠
A ref sheet of Malaka Al Shaytan, the self-proclaimed "Demon King". Shown are Malaka's female and male appearances, but their form is VERY modular. They are a tan person with a muscular build with a six pack and strong arms, eyes with elaborate patterns and star-shaped pupils, pointy ears, long, messy purple hair with magenta flame-dyed bangs, and up to four pairs of curved, purple horns. In both forms, they wear a torn up, crop-top t-shirt with intentional holes at the chest and shoulders, on top of a sports bra for their feminine appearance, a large pair of techwear pants of sort, and black boots with white soles and straps. Their feminine form is shown with just their lower pair of horns that curve forward, and their arms drapped into massive clawed arms of dark energy. Their masculine form bears the upper pair of horns that S curve upward, a dark energy tail that fans out into a hand-like fin, and a single, hand-like wing made of the same energy, with pink claws, and a symbol in the "palm" [a C3] that mildly resembles a generic (albeit abstract) crate. To the right of the ref would be their wing-shaped concept stone of Collect, bearings the same [C3]-symbol, and a twin-bladed glaive weapon with magenta crystal blades. The description of the concept stone: - allows Malaka to collect and copy the abilities of foes that they face. - Malaka’s copied abilities are however imperfect and chaotic, with a purple colouration. A reference sheet of Makora. She is a kaiju with a dark purple hide, with features making her look like a crocodile. Her head has a mid-long length snout, with 5 impressive crested horns protruding backwards across her head. Her eyes would be a blazing orange, and her ears would be floppy and segmented. To her torso, her chest had a spherical core in the middle that glowed, blue, smaller cores can be found on her shoulders and along her back. Her shoulders would be padded in armor that protruded 3 crescent crests each. Her forearms had similarly shaped blades. Her legs were of a general reptilian kaiju, bulky with four toes. Her back beared rough, triangular blue dorsal spines that went to the of her paddle-like tail. A reference sheet of Gloria Berglind, the "Nobelwoman Tank". Posed calmly with a hand to her cheek, and the other arm holding the other up by her chest; Gloria is an ankylosaur lady, with her arms and digitigrade legs resembling an ankylosaurid, with red scales. She of course also sports a log, giant, clubbed tail resembling a Zuul crurivastator's. At her head, she had a set of brown horns protruding from the back, red scales peppered on her cheeks, and she had her hair done up into a bun in the back, and the side bangs tied into two braids. Gloria would be dressed in a High House Bustle Dress, which is coloured mainly in solid pink (which is a magenta-ish toned red), with black-ish purple details, ribbons, skirt, and coattail. The rest of the sheet featured an expression sheet of Gloria being: happy, on the brink of crying, angry, and worried/scared. There would be a Picnic Purse, with doodles of some baked goods Gloria has a hobby in making, including cookies, and a croissant with chocolate drizzled on top, and dotted with chocolate chips for eyes, making a sort of snake-worm. And lastly, there would be a doodle featuring Gloria with an angry expresion as she shoots a large fireball from her mouth. Doodle artwork of a Twintyrant Serpent. It is a monster resembling a moray eel with two heads that resembling that of an allosaurus- complete with the signature two horns each. Additional details include the bunch of whiskers and catfish-like barbels that tip their snouts, and along its black body, they are patterned in ringed stripes coloured a golden yellow over top of a lighter shaded ventral-side. The monster is on top of a beach-like background, with a patch of sand dotted with tufts of beach grass.

Abstract for my paper at the SPNS Autumn Conference. Title: 'Kincurdy, Cuthilcurdy, Hill o’ Hirdie: The Scotticisation of an eighth-century saint?’ Abstract: 'The area around Rosemarkie on the Black Isle has long been noted as a cult centre for St Curetán, a bishop who is reliably attested as being active in the Moray Firthlands around the turn of the eighth century. Three Black Isle place-names appear to preserve his name in Scotticised form: Kincurdy, Cuthilcurdy and Hill o’ Hirdie, suggesting that his cult survived into the late Middle Ages or later. This paper will examine whether these names do contain Scotticisations of Curetán, and what they can tell us about the longevity of Curetán’s cult.' Ordnance Survey 25-inch first edition map of Rosemarkie (c.1872), site of an early medieval monastery and bishop's see. The 'Court Hill' is prominent and will be discussed in my paper. Signage at the Munlochy Clootie Well, which reads: 'For centuries, visitors have left offerings at the small well here and hoped for healing. The well is associated with the 7th-century bishop St Curitan (who is also known as Boniface). In earlier pre-Christian times, a goddess or nature spirit may have been associated with the well.' But the monster, which, so far from being satiated, was only roused for more prey, was lying at the bottom of the stream, & when it felt the water disturbed above by the man swimming, suddenly rushed out, &, giving an awful roar, darted after him, with its mouth wide open, as the man swam in the middle of the stream. Then the blessed man observing this, raised his holy hand, while all the rest, brethren as well as strangers, were stupefied with terror, &, invoking the name of God, formed the saving sign of the cross in the air, & commanded the ferocious monster, saying, "Thou shalt go no further, nor touch the man; go back with all speed." Then at the voice of the saint, the monster was terrified, & fled more quickly than if it had been pulled back with ropes, though it had just got so near to Lugne, as he swam, that there was not more than the length of a spear-staff between the man & the beast. Then the brethren seeing that the monster had gone back, & that their comrade Lugne returned to them in the boat safe & sound, were struck with admiration, & gave glory to God in the blessed man. A Pictish carved stone. At the top are two coiling S-shaped creatures with staring eyes, sharp teeth and lolling tongues; strange curled and dotted objects float between them. Below these two monsters is what is known as a "Pictish Beast", a strange, aquatic-looking creature with a long snout; its body is decorated with knotwork carving. At the base of the image is a highly ornamented Pictish double-disc crossed with a z-rod.

하늘이 흐렸기 때문에 너무 아쉽다. 맑은하늘이었다면 더 파릇파릇하고 보기 좋았을 듯.
