A multicoloured Aglais io or European Peacock Butterfly sits, wings spread in the sun, on the deep purple flower of a Butterly bush/Buddleija as it spreads above a pavement next to a road. The butterfly’s wings are a mix of bright orange-red with black markings and two black “eyes” in white surrounds. The background is provided by the thin green leaves of the shrub. We call this a #RedAdmiral. This one is having a little drink of #nectar. Do you have a different name for it? Or does it not live where you are? This one wasn’t easy to shoot due to the terrain and I was fearful to disturb it.
