There's almost no independent winegrowers inAoNZ, espec Otago & Marlborough. They keep the local names to maintain the illusion of choice but they're all owned by big multinationals. And they want us to drink a lot of their shitty product 😠

Co-sign on the wine producer and the vintage. Produttori del Barbaresco is a fantastic collective of winegrowers with tiny, sublime parcels of superlative grapes, and the wines are aromatic and traditional. The vintage is outstanding.
My number one Valentine's Day tip this year is: go drop $40 on a bottle of Produttori del Barbaresco 2021 at Costco, and then spend another $40 (elsewhere) on ingredients for a nice dinner.

You'll have a transcendent experience for what a decent restaurant would charge you for the wine alone.
