This is a brand that I wasn’t familiar with: Wancher Kuretake Kindai Maki-e, Ryuu to Houju. It’s an aluminum pen with a Maki-e dragon. It’s quite nice and the fine steel nib is wet and smooth, more than other Japanese brands.

In general, Japanese fountain pens (Pilot, Platinum, Sailor, Wancher, Ohto, etc) are cheaper and with the same level of quality as their German or Italian counterparts. And much better than the American big brands.

Good to know. I wouldn't mind hard starts, really, (would probably get it tuned anyway) but good to know Wancher helped out. You don't want to spend that much on a fancy pen you can't use out of the box.

I shared this in my stationery discords, but I figured people here would like it too. It’s smol but functional things that may be too small to really be good, but who cares if’s cute and tiny.

update i saw the wancher one; it's a little too green for me but but you can get a specialty grind (the kodachi) for an extra 100usd and that's actually far more cool.... but the nagasawa one is prettier to me 😭
