A fancy one from Waldmann, this is a Tango, a .925 silver and black lacquer pen. It had a nice weight and design, and a smooth steel nib. I acquired it at a great price from Pen Boutique, my US store to go for brands that doesn’t sell to Mexico…

From 1967, this is a Lady Sheaffer 632, in black tulle and gold net. This line was made to imitate fabrics, with a little 14k gold nib and a squish converter. It’s a good looking model, and a reliable writer (even if the nib doesn’t convinces me much).

A very nice model from Cross, this is an ATX, in rose gold (more like copper, but never mind). It’s a very good looking piece, and a reliable writer It isn’t too expensive, and the texture and weight feels good on the hand.

An odd one, this is the Cross Torero, the Bordeaux Crocodile model, made with real leather. Other versions included a diamondback pattern and woven black leather. It’s a heavy pen with a cumbersome cap, but it’s also a good writer.

From 1934, this is a Parker Challenger, in green marble. The Challenger was a student version of the Parker Vacumatic, at half the price, even if it has a gold nib and the exact same system as the more expensive model. It looks and works great.

A Pilot Falcon. This is a flex nib fountain pen, lightweight and comfortable. I found it at a good price. It’s a pity to read about the Japanese pens price increase. If Chinese manufacturers begin to sell reliable gold nibs, they will end the competition…

From Conklin, my favorite model, the All American, in Brownstone, a very good looking cracked acrylic in brown tones. It has a omniflex nib, and a classic design. Great writer.

A humble Pelikan Souverain from 1987, it’s a good quality piston filler pen. It’s the shorter and cheapest model of the Souverain line, with a gold plated steel pen. It has some feedback, although less than a Sailor nib.

A classic model, this is the best retractable fountain pen, the Pilot Vanishing Point. It has a 18k gold nib and is very smooth. I’m not a fan of this type of pen, but the quality is outstanding, even if it doesn’t holds a lot of ink. It comes in a variety of colors.

A good beginner design from Kaweko, this is a Perkeo, all in black. This is a big pen in a variety of colors, in a lightweight plastic and a good steel nib. It has a triangular section,so it will help beginners to the correct grip to use the pen, and has a nice nib.

From my reliable antique shop, this is a Yard-o-led Viceroy Standard Plain fountain pen, in .925 sterling silver. It was a lucky find at a great price (this pen, new is at £785!), and , after a little maintenance, a great piece.

Another interesting model from Hongdian, this is the Hongdian 100, a piston filler pen in aluminum, engraved. It’s quite light and well built. With a good quantity of ink and a smooth nib. It’s on the same family as the N7 series.

A recent purchase, the Kaweko AL Piston Sport, in Navy/Gold. It’s a piston filler pocket pen, with a nice satin finish. This is a little heavier pen than the Al sport, and includes the clip, and a bottle of ink. The pen is smooth and feels good on the hand.

On the last day of the year, I present you the limited edition Delta Dolce Vita, Verde Serpente. This was a collaboration between Delta and Pen Boutique, a very trustworthy shop in US. The pen is very nice, with a rare acrylic and smooth nib.

This is a fancy one, and one of the most curious models that I have. The S.T. Dupont Montparnasse, a black lacquered pen with a tiny knob in the end to access the converter and a guard for the body. The pen is buttery smooth.

A good piston filler from Hongdian, this is the N7 Gray rabbit, an acrylic pen with metallic cap, with rabbit details on the cap. Very nice writer, well made and with a smooth black steel nib.

A classic model, the Parker Duofold Mk II. This is a remake from their famous model made between 1927 and 1935. Later models are pretty expensive, exploiting the nostalgia, and forgetting that this isn’t the classic Parker brand. I have much more vintage than modern ones.

A special piece for the holidays, this is a Wancher Aizu Urushi fountain pen. Urushi is a special lacquer made in Japan, and also the technique used for lacquering. It’s a gorgeous pen that writes excellent and came in a very nice packaging.

Happy Holidays to all!

A recent addition to my collection, this is a Pelikan Souverain M200, the red marble version. It’s a shiny red in the classic shape of this German brand, with a gold plated steel nib, that the fans of feedback nibs will like.

A classic in its own right, this is a Hongdian 1850 Black Forest. Hongdian makes them in a variety of nibs, colors including rainbow, and materials like carbon fiber and brass. It’s a solid choice for a beginner and a very affordable option, with good quality.

My Christmas gift to myself, the Pelikan M1000. I was undecided between this and a MB149, but I ended choosing this one, as it’s a great quality pen and a 30% cheaper. Montblanc is now more of a luxury brand than a pen manufacturer. I tested both and I’m glad with this one

A well beloved model, this is a TWSBI Diamond 580AL, the Iceberg Clear. I hear many opinions, from the price, to the overall quality. Since in Mexico there aren’t oficial resellers, it’s too expensive to buy here, but mine has good quality.

An oddity, the Parker 180, from 1979. This is a special edition, the Gold Ecorcé. This strange nib is specially designed to write in both sides, as a medium and as a fine. It does! And is very smooth both ways.

From past year, one of Hongdian’s year of the dragon models, the A24 this is a piston converter in resin covered brass. It was a variant of their N24, in wood, that cracked easily, so I decided for this very nice version. The nib is beautiful and smooth.

My last purchase, that I’m a little conflicted about. The Ranga Majestic model. I wanted a classic Duofold style, and thought that a classic ebonite pen would do. I received it, but it’s really a big red pen, 180 mm long! It’s lightweight and works well, but…
