VOLFIED is out as part of the Arcade Archives series, this is one I played obsessively in the early 2000s on one of the PS2 Taito collections. My best score back then was about a million points, let's see if I can get back to that level.

The PC Engine version of Taito's Qix follow-up, Volfied, was released in Japan on December 27, 1989. Comments from a former staffer at I.T.L (port developer) were shared on Hamster's Arcade Archives stream earlier this year. Seems the release of the arcade version was in doubt. x.com/TaitoCorp/st...

A great update to Qix that adds biomechanical hell monsters! Nice power-ups make casual play fun and dynamic, but they can actually harm your chances at a high score! Every stage you clear away starts to reveal pieces of the next stage like you're cutting through a giant block of cheese.
