Realistically Trump is probably jealous of the Tatmadaw's near-total grip on power in Myanmar (granted, that power is waning as the civil war rages on, but none of the rebel groups has managed to overthrow it yet).

The Burmese People’s Defense Force has used decoy swarms against the Tatmadaw’s drone jammers in order to distract them from their real targets, for example. I can give other examples of what can be done to counter drone jammers during drone operations if you want me to.

When the Sagaing Fault ruptured in a Magnitude 7.7-7.9 supershear quake on 28 March 2025, some thoughts, my own included, were on the impact this would have on the ongoing Myanmar Civil War. Mandalay is one of the Tatmadaw's three major holdings, along with Yangon and Nyapidaw. (Cont.)

The #Myanmar junta is looking to retake resistance positions controlling key economic assets owned by China. Given the Tatmadaw's reliance upon air power with limited precision guidance, the risk to Chinese assets is significant, creating uncertainty as to whether China is pushing for these actions

China's role in Myanmar is clearly to stop the resistance from overthrowing the SAC. Beijing is fine with EAO controlled periphery, but does not seem to be willing to abide any threat to the Tatmadaw's political role.

“Drones are becoming key to the Tatmadaw’s war effort. Over the past year the tempo of its airstrikes has risen sharply … Rebel fighters say most of them are now carried out by drones instead of the forces’ overstretched and costly fleet of fighter jets” www.economist.com/asia/2025/03...

Their economic liaison is likely to centre upon the import of weapons as the Tatmadaw's steady retreat makes junta-aligned civilian infrastructure investments a high-risk undertaking.

of the Tatmadaw's Border Guard Force.
For small outlets like Qilo TV, they filmed a little known Chin-aligned group called PDF Zoland to sell Rhodesian brushstroke hats and jackets for a parent company, and probably only were able to film because the Chin EAOs thought their message would go global.

The AA push South instead of Kyaukphyu suggest some efficacy in the Tatmadaw's use of Chinese economic assets as places of refuge, though the push South may be primarily the work of AA backed Ayeyarwady PDFs.

The Myanmar Junta received the final 2 of 6 Su-30's from Russia. The cost of maintaining and operating these airframes far exceeds their utility, as the rebel armies have limited air defence capabilities. As a result, the Su-30's are likely to degrade rather than enhance the Tatmadaw's air power.

Sure, but Israel isn't why the courts are being shrugged off; the ICJ case against Myanmar is not at all relevant to Tatmadaw's behavior.

Even as the Tatmadaw's genocidal campaign against the Rohingya raged in Myanmar, the EU could not muster the political will to cut ties with their military-owned companies. I love and believe in the spirit of the European project, but I'm ashamed of the cowardice that pervades its every pursuit.

This horrific campaign is what brought me back to twitter. I remember how unreal it felt to see overtly pro-genocide tweets spreading across the platform with no pushback; to to see our leaders fail to muster even the bare minimum of political courage in defense of the Tatmadaw's victims. Shameful.
Starting a couple of weeks ago, I've been publishing a long—but I think briskly paced!—look at a specific piece of recent technology history, which is the role that Meta, Facebook, and the internet more generally played in the persecution and genocide of the Rohingya in Myanmar. It's all up now.
