tournaments, but seeing Stormgate having more than most is surprising, because how much of a mess the game and a lot surrounding end up being.

For all its issues (and there is tons of it) one thing Stormgate is succeeding is actually maintaining a small community that does a fair ammount of tournament and matches, more than most small scale rts games, even those that are a bigger success, and I wish other rts follow this, specially...

IDK why age of empires style bases that defend you early game aren't like, a standard issue thing in RTS games
but it was really funny in Stormgate when it was in beta that people would instantly surrender when I sent out a random ass grunt to scout the enemy base

I don't support the AI thing. I was just saying that David Fried, former Blizzard dev, works in Frost Giant which makes Stormgate. Also, Frost Giant's Principal Artist is Jesse Brophy, who also worked in Blizzard before.

Somehow Stormgate has returned... it was actually community effort and volunteer workers, this game is such a mess.

I finally realized later than I should have that there is no reason to remain subscribed to the Stormgate subreddit that doesn't involve mental illness and that's all that's going on there anymore. Very sad because I honestly think they had something special and no one else will do anything like it.

UED: First Light exists, and manages, as a fan-made campaign, to be better-written and better-voiceacted than the AAA-budget Stormgate.

broken arrow, tempest rising, stormgate are the biggest 3 i can think of the top of my head, if you include big series (which you don't seem to want to, for some reason!) we have way more, but it circles back to the point OP made : pvp makes every game worse because these games require online

I have not played it/am unfamiliar enough with the scene to not know the reasons for most of the backlash is, but the subreddit for Stormgate has some of the most vicious things said about devs I've ever seen.
