NEW DELHI: The unemployment rate for those in the age group of 15 years and above edged up marginally in September, while the rate for females rose to a three-month high, the monthly Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) showed on Wednesday.The data showed that the unemployment rate for those in the age bracket of 15 years and above increased marginally to 5.2% in September from 5.1% in August after declining in the past two months. For all age groups, the rate rose to a three-month high of 5.3% from 5.1% in Aug.The joblessness rate in rural areas for those in the age group of 15 years and above climbed to a three-month high of 4.6% in September from 4.3% in August.

NEW DELHI: The unemployment rate for those in the 15 years and above age group slowed in July compared to June while the worker participation rate (WPR) and labour force participation rate (LFPR) improved a tad during the month.The monthly bulletin for Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) showed the unemployment rate slowed to 5.2% in July compared to 5.6% in June. The joblessness rate among males slowed to 5.3% in July compared to 5.6% in June while among females it slowed to 5.1% in July compared to 5.6% in June.

India’s unemployment charge stood at 5.6% in June 2025. It was the identical charge in Might, in response to the newest Periodic Labour Drive Survey (PLFS) launched by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Tuesday. The latest available annual Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) reports show that the estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) for India's youths in the 15-29 years age group has decreased from 17.8 per cent in 2017-18 to 10.2 per cent in 2023-24, the Parliament was informed on Thursday. As per latest Annual PLFS Reports, the estimated Worker Population Ratio (WPR), indicating employment, including public and private sector, on usual status for persons of age 15 years and above has increased from 50.9 per cent in 2019-20 to 58.2 per cent in 2023-24, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

NEW DELHI: The overall unemployment rate for those in the 15 years and above age group held steady at 5.2% in Oct, but urban joblessness rate climbed to a three-month high of 7% during the month, the monthly periodic labour force survey (PLFS) showed on Monday. The survey also showed that there was a marginal decline in the rural unemployment rate from 4.6% in Sept to 4.4% in Oct.The joblessness rate among females in the 15 years and above age group dipped marginally to 5.4% in Oct from 5.5% in Sept.
