I'll have you know I finally made the pecan snowballs I'd been craving since before Christmas, and just had three for breakfast, per doctor's orders. The prescription says to repeat the treatment tomorrow. #CookJan

Please give us a recipe, which @unlawfulentries.bsky.social might also want to see. I use Ottolenghi's version in Plenty (just fed it to a former student and her family last Sunday). Once had some students over by telling them Dr. Shakshuka would be operating (based on the Tel Aviv joint).

“So glad you’re back mam! The Master is trying cook one Ottolenghi’s recipes and he’s blown the entire housekeeping budget on pomegranate molasses!”

Can’t remember who alerted me to the existence of Ottolenghi’s miso pesto a few days ago but, now I’ve discovered the online shop, there’s no going back 😁

Or maybe I’m not the target audience for this type of food. And that’s okay.

For example, I’m a rare dissenter on Ottolenghi’s cookbooks. And his food. I don’t like any of it.

I don’t like lightly seasoned and raw foods, possibly.

Even in Mediterranean food I much prefer Turkish / Syrian / […]

Went all the way to Whitechapel yesterday, just so we could get dessert at Rinkoff Bakery (OMG the cheesecake). While we were at it, stopped at the only place we know that sells smoked ricotta. So today, pasta alla Norma it is. Ottolenghi's recipe has baked aubergines that taste as good as fried. 🍽️🍜

The world is a dumpster fire but I’m making Ottolenghi’s miso butter onions for the first time (to go with roasted green beans and … something) and they’ve only been in the oven 7 minutes but my house smells amazeballs right now.

Look up Yotam Ottolenghi's hummus recipe and make it. Also buy his books. It's not hard at all but it's as good as hummus gets.

Have a crack at making your own - I did a few years back, using Yotam Ottolenghi's recipe and they're really easy to do. I made 6 jars and gave away a few as gifts.

Ottolenghi’s book ‘Simple’ is called that because that’s what he thinks you are due to your inability to comprehend its fiendishly complicated recipes
