I think it’s Ophiopogon planiscapus Nigracens, also known as Black Mondo Grass - widely available on many gardening websites. To be avoided at all costs 🥴🤫

Ophiopogon planiscapus is another borderline plant in Newfoundland. Yesterday it was still looking good with good berry presence. Now a windchill of -21C with no snow cover....not good.

Cleome habe ich noch nie selbst probiert auszusäen. Die sehr buschige, reich blühende Sortengruppe 'Senorita', die es in mindestens drei Farben (Blanca / Carolina / Rosita) gibt, hatte ich mal aus dem Gartencenter, mal online bestellt - die sind klasse!

Garden guys

Found the odd berry hiding in the Ophiopogon scaber B&SWJ3655 this week. Really like this one for its long and very narrow leaves.

This loonie-sized Pacific Chorus frog spent the day splooted on the cool potting soil, even though it wasn't very hot. I wonder if the wildfire smoke is hurting the frog's permeable skin? Maybe the part pressed to the soil is protected from the smoke?

Among pots of Black Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon) sitting on a silver coloured expanded metal bench, a bright green Pacific Chorus Frog (Pseudacris regilla) is lying in a 4" pot fully splooted, legs akimbo and tummy pressed to the soil. Frog was not considering moving even though I was right next to them as I set up the blue bucket of fertilizer (lower left corner of photo), my sunhat brim centimeters from their spot. I hope they are ok! (I did not fertilize them, never fear, even though that straggly Mecardonia could have used a boost - hopefully the frog pooped on it instead before it left haha. I took off my hat as soon as I realized I was inadvertently looming.)
