Always good to check how the soil (ground) temps are doing. The model uses a depth of 4" (10cm) to predict soil temps,-again not perfect (urban areas) #onwx #onstorm -how consistent is it < 0C, during the week, or the daily diurnal cycle-helps with is the ground frozen yet?

...Same run time as noted in previous post, take this with "a pound of salt"👍 GFS does way better in general with upper air features,-than surface one's. But here's its "idea" of the make up of storms systems traversing US/CAN. It has the right general "idea". #onwx #onstorm

...the GFS is not that far off-compared to the EURO ens. From now till Dec. 3. -Pattern change late next week, injection of much colder air rescheme. My map-plotted 850mb temps (~5k/ft.-up) & Mid-level-HGTS/flow,-once you see the dark blues/purples your in the -20 C or lower. #onwx #onstorm

7pm EST (00Z) Synoptic "Snapshot" of the weather for S. Ontario. #onwx #onstorm snow squalls should continue to drift N-ward, the wind field is weakening, so thus the squalls will too. Otherwise partly cloudy skies overnight for the rest of SONT.
November 18, 2025 at 12:52 AM
7pm EST (00Z) Synoptic "Snapshot" of the weather for N. Ontario. #onwx #onstorm Fairly quiet in the north overnight, High pressure moves into NWONT, mainly clear there, for the rest variable amounts of clouds, still the very slight risk of a flurry in extreme N. NEONT.
November 18, 2025 at 12:51 AM
The weakening winds & snow bands, shifting N from Huron/Bruce counties in the overnight. Weak system will slide just S of the L. Lakes Tues.-increasing cloud in SWONT,-risk of a shower/wet flurry (Essex C).High pressure will then build into the L. Lakes Wed./Thurs. #onwx #onstorm

Georgian Bay #Canada snow squalls add 5–10 cm near Barrie–Collingwood #Canada as warmer lakes feed intense lake-effect bands in a changing climate. Whiteouts possible. #ONStorm #ONwx #ClimateChange

Looking at the week ahead with the EURO & the CAN (attached) -Mon 7AM thru Sat. 7AM, both hint at some weather moving thru SWONT Tues. (system clipping SE-ward) -a more robust system on Fri.-looks like mainly rain (liquid) for SONT. Both have that gone by the weekend. #onwx #onstorm

Latest hourly run of the HRRR18 - Radar 4cast- (P-type) from now till noon on Monday. Lake squalls continue in the traditional snow belts. Added lowest model CAPE values, to show the energy the warmer lake are adding to the LE, most prevalent in S. L. Huron/GB/LE #onwx #onstorm

7pm EST (00Z) Synoptic "Snapshot" of the weather for S. Ontario. #onwx #onstorm Sidebar-in the next few months of winter😒👎 you will often see a "dashed black line" over the lakes-it's called a "thermal trough"-an elongated area of low pressure caused by the warm lake waters.
November 17, 2025 at 1:01 AM
7pm EST (00Z) Synoptic "Snapshot" of the weather for N. Ontario. #onwx #onstorm just a few clouds to clear in NWONT overnight. Elsewhere in EONT variable amounts of cloud, risk of flurries, more frequent show showers in the far north of NEONT.

It's honking out there (sailor term) -thought I'd take a look since the house shook a few times with some really solid gusts funneling thru the neighborhood😬 Loop: 10:13AM thru 3:57 PM EST. Speed MAX gusts in mph from various wx stations/buoys. (1mph-~1.6 k/hr.) #onwx #onstorm

Noticed several reports with graupel,-thought I'd pull up this morning's 12Z HRRR & see where it placed the favored areas for graupel production in convective clouds. Colours-lime grn/yel/reds=good chance the little buggers would form #onwx #onstorm White❄️=snow/graupel report
