We shall now see what the Ellisons, the Trump-aligned new owners of Nickelodeon's corporate parent, do to #TheLoudHouse. I suspect that they will make it an extremely far-right television cartoon, which will cost it all the viewers it has left.

"Burning Secret: Off to the Country Club" (2017)

With #TheLoudHouse confirmed to have ended production, I thought I’d share this fanart of mine from almost a decade ago, along with an essay I wrote just now reflecting on it, and to some extent the show.
oh jeez this is a blast from the past …it’s described in the essay. In 2017, the year before Big City Greens premiered (and three years before I became a fan of it) and I debuted the Oddball Tetrad to the world (and five years before I started drawing the webcomic starring them), I was a DeviantArt user known as a fan of Nickelodeon’s The Loud House. If there’s any artwork you know of mine from back in those days, it’s this one, of Lynn Sr. holding a pool cue in front of his daughters, all dressed to go someplace fancy. Many people who don’t know the context behind the art have clowned on me for it. I assure you all it looks worse than it actually is. The Loud House is one of the few shows I got so into, that I even read the fanfics people wrote of them. I was there for ‘Requiem for a Loud’, and the many fanfics spawned by those two segments. You know damn well which two I’m talking about. One such fanfic (no reference intended) that I read, was Burning Secret, written by a DA user who went by Samtastic-V3. In the fanfic, Lincoln is hailed a hero after he alerts Royal Woods Elementary to a fire in a science lab, the public not knowing he was the one who started the fire (on accident, of course). And the story follows him as he deals with the guilt, and is being followed by *ahem* a blackmailer, who witnessed what happened. The climax of Burning Secret is set at the country club from ‘Out On a Limo’, where Lincoln is to be honored for his bravery. Before the Louds depart for said country club, Lynn Sr. makes his daughters state the expectations for their behavior, tapping a pool cue on their shoulders when he expects them to speak. The mental image in my head was a shot similar to the one of the siblings at pets lined up in front of the stairs, with Lori, acting like a drill instructor, in the position Lynn Sr. is shown here. So I drew it, going off screenshots of the show, and Sam’s descriptions, to figure out how to draw their outfits. I wasn’t very good at blocking or staging at the time I drew this… I don’t know if I’m any better now, but I really wasn’t then. I was 19 at the time, about to start my freshman year of college after a botched high school graduation. I’m sure if I drew this today, at 27, almost 28, I’d figure out how to work Lincoln and Rita. But at the time, blocking and staging wasn’t something I knew how to do. So my interpretation was, this scene was basically Lincoln’s POV. This artwork got thousands of views and dozens of favorites on DA when I had an account there, and Sam himself was amazed by my work. However, since making this drawing public, it has gotten criticisms like ‘where’s Lincoln?’ and ‘you made Lynn Sr. look abusive!’, the latter I assume come from people who don’t know the fanfic this is fanart of (it’s right in the title, guys… ‘Burning Secret’). As for myself, it’s one of the few pre-2020s artworks of mine, let alone pre-OTOG, that I still feel fond of, and I feel I can show off without feeling embarrassed. Burning Secret is still available to this day on fanfiction.net, where it has a cover designed by JFMStudios, who I consider to be one of the best Loud House fanartists, and a great fellow cartoonist in general. Sam’s most recent fanfic on the site is from 2023; it’s a Ghost and Molly McGee fanfic called Turtle’s in the Cradle. Sam and I lost touch after I closed my DA, but I’ve never let this artwork become lost media; it’s still available on Stormy’s Gallery and my Newgrounds. I guess you can say I like to keep it around as a memento of how far I’ve come, the seed from which my social media life sprouted. I may have long moved on from The Loud House; it served its purpose in my life for the time that it did, and then I moved on to Big City Greens, and my own creations. But many of my closest friendships on social media, and my earliest art posted to social media, was around The Loud House. And this artwork from, up to now, around a third of my life ago, remains an interesting little time capsule, a reminder of how far I’ve come, from then as a fan of a show I thought would become a pop cultural staple, to now as a cartoonist telling stories inspired by my life and hometown. Thank you, Loud House. May you inspire many an artist in your afteryears.

A pilot from Nickelodeon's Intergalactic Shorts that I am hoping gets released in public is The Other Side by Niki Lopez. It looks really amazing and I cannot believe that the same creator of Santiago Of The Seas made this pilot as it even was nominated for an event in Los Angeles.

Debate questions should be asked by actual children. Nickelodeon's Kids Pick the President mock elections predicted the outcome of every election except for both Trump terms and Jr's second.

This is definitely the weakest Digimon dub due to Nickelodeon’s heavy censorship compared to other seasons that are more faithful or at least reasonable. The voice acting is fine besides being brought down by one problematic VA.

An edgier show doesn’t always mean a better show; the latter couldn’t be something like Invader ZiM if it tried, while the former stands toe-to-toe with Hey Arnold!, As Told by Ginger, and It’s Pony as the most endearing of Nickelodeon’s animated slice-of-life series.

3.) Monster High (2022) is a better NickToon that came out this decade so far than most of Nickelodeon’s original cartoons after Middlemost Post despite being an IP-driven show - because the creative liberties taken with that IP made its characters and sensibilities quite remarkable.

Even Nickelodeon's version of Kai is INCREDIBLY more faithfulness thanks to Sabat and crew. If we'd gotten that... I feel like the perception of Dragon Ball in the states would be wildly different.
