#Mineralcup
Nice to see #OreCup maintains the primary feature of #MineralCup, making me make TOUGH choices! I’m #TeamCopper so I win either way, but #Bornite is just so pretty, a true rainbow 🌈 rock, and it was named after Ignaz von Born, which makes me think of Ignatz Mouse! Of such things are votes made/cast.

They're both on the "do not lick" list (I assume because the heavy metals involved shouldn't be inhaled)

I picked #bornite because it's 🌈
#OreCup R1M4: This match is coming hot from a hydrothermal vein as #Carrollite competes with #Bornite. Both are copper ores with a beautiful tarnish. You have 24 hours to decide!

@MineralCup What a wonderful month of friendly contest! Thank you to all who made #mincup25 possible!

Although I'm still annoyed that beautiful and intriguing #sapphirine hasn't been back since 2023!

Thortveititt treng stemmer i Mineralcup 2025! Det er eit sjeldant mineral med scandium, yttrium og silikat – og var ein gong det dyraste i verda fordi potensialet i rom- og atomforsking. Dyrare enn gull! Seinare brukt i laser. Sexy nok no? Stem her:

Well, if you want to have a faceoff AlienEarth vs HumanEarth, you'd have to get them into the #MineralCup. And get some kind of bsky voting system going, which is a roundabout way to say is bsky voting on the horizon yet? Pretty please with calcite sprinkles? bsky.app/profile/rehe...

It's two veteran competitors for mineralcup, both with big fan bases. Calcite is a classic that every geology student knows well. Perovskite is a rising star with the potential to be a game changer in the energy field. Vote for your favorite at mineralcup.org! #science #geology #MinCup25

In honour of #Feldspar 🎭🦉 from #ForestOfWhales, feldspathoid being close enough, #Haüyne and its blue for #MineralCup

(Or to make sure misspelled versions make it in, #Hayüne, whichever right in the end.)

@forestofwhales.bsky.social @quietpinetrees.bsky.social
Hayüne old name Azure spar,  is a rare tectosilicate sulfate mineral. It is a feldspathoid and a member of the sodalite group. Hauyne was first described in 1807 from samples discovered in Vesuvian lavas in Monte Somma, Italy. It fluorescences under long wave ultraviolet light.

The annual #mineralcup contest is underway here on Bluesky. I don't think this mineral is part of it this time, but admire it anyway.

Reason you should vote for #stibnite for today's #MineralCup.

I always learn a lot about mineral uses during September.
You may recognise this fine fellow as Johann Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg, owner of an awesome beard and renowned inventor of the movable type printing press. One of his key innovations in printing was adding antimony (and tin) to lead to make type metal. /2

#okenite looks like something you see from the site of a surviving meteorite that you collect and put on the mantel of the fireplace... until it starts cutely purring.

You are also advised NOT to eat #stibnite.
