Hey Vidders! Any ideas how to convert Matroska (mkv) files on a Mac so I can cut clips/use them in Final Cut Pro?
January 24, 2026 at 6:08 PM
I *might* have fixed it by changing the format from Quicktime to Matroska but I still have no idea why it kept doing this. Fortunately Blender only ever did this on 2 of the files I used for rendering.

dual audio version with the english dub is available now!

currently only available in the matroska (.mkv) format, but i'll be replacing the .mp4 when i can, the IA player only supports one audio track tho, so you'll need to download / torrent it

includes a separate sub track for the dub too :)

You are your own Matroska doll!

My notion here was that you not really try to build a oneliner that groks enough about matroska to seek where the header says to, but that you pattern match on some UUID at the head of your payload until it sees that UUID again. And yeah, the idea is that it's totally stego'd.

It's trivial enough to build a powershell pattern matcher that just reads the whole matroska and clips from a couple of sentinel patterns. And trivial to dynamically generate those sentinel patterns. Make them UUIDs, even.

On this date in 2002, the Matroska Multimedia Container project began, creating the MKV format that supports multiple audio, video, and subtitle streams in a single file, widely used in digital media and streaming workflows today.

its really weird when you are sitting in a Matroska doll of catastrophic crisis' and a single one gets fixed you feel like you can relax. my second instance is in the back pointing out, 'no no dude, what about the rest of it' and front me be like 'shhhhhhh.. chillax bro its cool. its aaall cool'

all this talk of MP4: a limited container, matroska is doing wild things over there. not the most ideal in many cases but damn powerful

going to make a line of candy that's just a matroska nesting doll set of wrappers until you get down to a tiiiiiiny little note that says "the real snacks are the friends you made along the way"

Curious why Matroska is now supported - isn't WebM already a web-focused subset of MKV?

Ehehe
