It's National Black Cat Day. I don't have a black cat. I have a one-eyed pirate calico cat named Winky. But there's a black witch cat named Dymphna in the BEASTS OF BURDEN OMNIBUS so I'm going to be tacky and use the occasion to plug the book. Will wait for National One-Eyed Calico Pirate Cat Day.

It took 2 months, and I would grow some fatigue from this and there was also something that halted its production for a few days, but in the end I did finish it. Photographing the pencil drawings was simple as i had a lightpad under the glass plate so you can see the background.

I wanted to combine this bag pattern of @maria.norda with a panel of #seaglass (technique: Allie @exhaustedoctopus) storage of my Lightpad for months. I made the panel but didn't finish it till last week. So it is another finish for the #FinishItQAL (Tiffany @villageboundquilts).

I do a sketch of what I want and put it under the water colour paper on my lightpad (This case a 5x7 card) Taped down with painter's tape

RED SONJA cover process. I start with digital layouts, reversed and printed on the back of the board. I use a lightpad to pencil over the sketch. Then I scan the pencils and blue-line print them on a fresh board and ink over that. The inks are scanned and colored in Photoshop. Color by Kike J Diaz.

Fader3 is kinda utilitarian, whereas the Roli Lightpad is great for sound design when I need to control 8 multitouch params at once in 3 axes. I wrote this app for it that offers two XYZ pads and an XZ pitchbend strip (sideways & pressure!) and an alt mode for easy mapping

today im presenting you only lineart since i planned to draw this traditionally but sketching it would be so much more difficult that it needs to be, so im doing it digitally for now and im going to trace it with lightpad

I got myself a lightpad last year so redraws aren’t TOTALLY from square one, though with my awful eyesight I tend use the lightpad just to redraw the composition, perspective, and basic shapes, I still have to do all the little details from square one as they don’t come through too well enough,

My new light pad is so amazing. It’s rechargeable, stands up on it’s own, and can lay down. It’s also much larger. So happy. Feels like a proper lightpad #diamondart
