Oh strange, I don't get why you wouldn't be able to create real bluesky notifications, I would have thought you could use their lexicon to do that. You could have a bot account that makes an additional mention here with a post saying @name was mentioned on leaflet and it would have the same effect

Truly excellent interview Greg; thanks for posting. In addition to others' thoughts about words/phrases from the interview being worthy of adding to the general lexicon, I did like this: "Everything seems novel when you don't know what you're talking about". Just bought the book.
Today on the PREVAIL podcast, one of my all-time favorite interviews: @ebharrington.bsky.social, professor of economic sociology & author of "Offshore: Stealth Wealth & the New Colonialism."

Watch the clip on my Substack; listen to the full episode here:

If privacy in atproto is difficult, because it’s an open protocol. Rather than trying to tack on privacy. Couldn’t there be a sister protocol that operates on the same elements, (lexicon and pds). But is otherwise optimized for privacy?

“Caught and compromised to a permanent end” has been in my lexicon since that night.

no1 uses this word more than khj

8tz's resident fag. he participates in queer culture, he hangs out with queer people. it is in the first few pages of his lexicon. he probably says it too much. it's a compliment, it's an insult, he's obsessed, he's pissed off. he has range.

Autistic Lexicon

Peritiosexual

From the root word “Perite” meaning “skilled” or “expert”.

A person who finds skill or expertise sexually attractive or arousing.

Many Autistic ppl note being aroused by expertise or having a partner who is attracted to their own expertise.

The sentence "you think shoes are girls dip shit" goes through my mind so often that I feel like I first saw this tweet yesterday. Permanent addition to my personal lexicon.

Putting this directly in front of Zero's vision so I can have "wokisme et des pronoms" get stuck in his lexicon

perhaps the worst part of being online in 2025 is the decade+ old runoff of /b/ and /pol/ becoming mainstream lexicon

the /b/ -> somethingawful -> reddit -> twitter -> facebook pipeline never died, we just have guys posting bait thread screenshots from /v/ to farm elon bucks now

Basically I’d want to wafrnify PeerTube and expand it to video lexicon beyond just bridged microblogging

Disappointed the L’Académie Française. I would have thought they’d hunt down anyone who added such a word to the French lexicon and send them to the guillotine.
December 13, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Yeahhh that scans. There might even be some real old heads that only have a place.stream.key record, that was the first one we did (I don't think I even wrote a lexicon for it at first! Just a YOLO createRecord call)
December 13, 2025 at 9:43 PM
I swapped out the signal lexicon from place.stream.chat.profile lexicon for .chat.message to just backfill and that found 270 additional repos to backfill, and can switch back to .chat.profile for runtime. So that works too if you have an older application
December 13, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Yeh that’s a good connection point.

Semble is my ‘daily driver’ for storage of web artifacts, so what I want from apps like pop feed.social is to be Semble-aware enough that I can have my Semble movie lists mirrored on the atproto movie apps, via a shared lexicon.
December 13, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Yep! The way it works is if you're backfilling, you give it a record you know everyone that uses that app should have, like a profile lexicon on sign up. This is how the backfill knows which repos to backfill. This is also what triggers the repo to be tracked in tap if it sees it on the firehose
Quick getting started notes on tap - HItchhikers Guide to the Atmosphere
Bluesky released a new backfill/firehose tool today called Tap. These are some quick notes on trying it out to make it easier for anyone to give it a go.

Only problem I've really had with tap is these relays don't like me for some of my older records. relay1.us-east wasn't tracking that I had a place.stream.chat.profile record either.

I don't believe the collection filters will tag my repo either if I send a more common one like a chat lexicon
