Hi bluesky 👋🏼 long time no see lol. Came to ask for recs — I teach English 101 at a community college and I’m looking for readings on the gender binary, trans identity, transphobia, etc that are accessible with very little understanding of queer/trans identity

Thank you to @armenianliterary.org for the post!
Told in interwoven historical, contemporary, and fantastical sequences, IALA member @nadinetakvorian.bsky.social's debut, Armaveni, is a gripping graphic novel and a much-needed historical document on the Armenian Genocide. 📕 ✨

Great thread for #USgov teachers as well as everyone with interested in living in a constitutional republic. #iteachsocialstudies
@tribelaw.bsky.social harshly criticizes Jill Lepore's new history of the Constitution in @nybooks.com. Two thoughts about this important exchange.

1. Tribe is entirely right to fault her for effectively dismissing the unwritten elements of the US Constitution. This the center of his whole critique
Is the Constitution ‘Dead, Dead, Dead’? | Laurence H. Tribe
The difficulty of amending the Constitution does not mean that it is a flawed and outdated relic of a distant past.

THREAD: Viral misinformation on US capture of Nicolas Maduro - 4 January

This video, shared by Alex Jones and others, falsely claims to show millions of Venezuelans in Caracas celebrating Maduro's capture.

In fact, it shows anti-Maduro protests in July 2024 over a highly disputed election.

Wouldn't this be a great research project?

Write a year in review for a particular year. Read broad overviews, read old newspapers, choose the types of art and sport that stand out to you... Give us the highlights.

A class could cover a whole era.
