Bring back the humanities
Analysis: Weeks before he set foot on the stage, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance had already become a media event.

But if you were looking for political commentary, the closest that you got was when he said “God bless America” in English.
Analysis | Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show was expected to provoke. Did it?
The Bad Bunny Super Bowl show nodded to injustices in Puerto Rico but mostly evoked wholesome family values that meshed with the more sentimental commercials.

taking care of this kitten & I noticed something. when he first got home he was anxious, scared, hiding, didn’t want to play.
2 days later he is letting us pick him up & pet him AND he is relaxed enough to play.

kittens learn through play. as do children. lesson for teachers.

On curriculum presentations: if they can’t tell you specifically & in detail how the curriculum is culturally relevant or affirming, it’s not.

This district found a 4-step formula to boost AP scores:

➡️ Focusing on summative assessment
➡️ Designing instruction to match the assessment
➡️ Providing opportunities for formative practice that mirrored assessment
➡️ Allowing retakes with more practice

Here’s how it happened!

How do I know NYC Reads needs a radical reworking? Well, for one, I can't teach a lesson from HMH with fidelity AND receive a highly effective rating on my observation. In fact, the more I depart from the teachers' guide, the better my rating gets.

So many in media are ill-equipped to interview officials about what’s happening because they begin with the presumption of legitimacy and don’t know enough about history or U.S. foreign policy to foment intelligent pushback and hold officials accountable.

The wealthy are always so GD worried some poor people are gonna commit some small time fraud. Meanwhile, big corporations are committing HUGE afraid. Just look at defense contractors.

Why? Because we have all been taught to see the wealthy as virtuous and to see the poor as lazy and unworthy.

Something that I think would be really helpful in building a broader coalition here: a substantive conversation about what the "newer era" of the canon can/should be?

Like, which 10-12 books should be part of the canon from the past 50 years?

That should be a conversation!
