Today's recipe is a 'white' custard tart from the collection of Philippine Welser (c. 1550). Interesting topping, sort of a proto-meringue.

I'm back from my holiday and can resume my posting of #historicrecipes. Today, it's a staple of German #medieval cuisine: Black sauce for fish, specifically carp.

Grab your cowboy boots because the CTK is hitting the road and headed way down yonder to the once tiny town of Saginaw, Texas. As you read through the tale of our Texas namesake, chop up some veggies for a festive dip to serve up alongside your next BBQ. #historicrecipes loom.ly/0oaQ3r8

Inspired by Edwardian holiday tables — where cakes were simple, spiced gently, and shared slowly.
This Christmas loaf belongs beside tea, candlelight, and conversation 🕯️

A Christmas loaf from another time — tender, lightly spiced, and finished with a snowfall of sugar. This Edwardian recipe belongs beside evergreen branches, teacups, and lingering conversations.

Some #historicrecipes are obscure, enigmatic, incomplete, or so poorly written they are near impossible to interpret. This one is scrambled eggs, but in 1547.

Shishbarak is a portal, you can travel to Lebanon in a blink…
It is a dumpling usually lamb or beef but my vegetarian soul chose cheese, un a smooth and tart yogurt soup.
