Thank you for sharing this very insightful post. Reading it, I couldn't help but be reminded of the complaints people had about the show Heartstoppers - in trying to present a wholesome vision of LGBTQ relationships, a substantial part of the actual queer experience is erased

For example Heartstoppers, Red White & Royal Blue and Heated Rivalry are great for what they are (meaning they provide popular representation), they are simply fantasies of how straight women think gay men should be. coming out this year. My issue is of the 3 only one was an American production. HR was picked up by HBO 3 weeks before it's debut. Heartstoppers is ending this year with a movie. Boots was cancelled after 1 season (the rumor being to appease Trump). I saw the creator of Noah's Arc also speaking..2/?

I've rightfully seen some discourse among queers of color about the reception HR has received and to request more stories with people of color in those types of roles. I agree wholeheartedly, but complex is important here. I've seen 3 shows sited a lot Heartstoppers, HR and Boots. 2 of these ...1/?

Lets hope so. I heard many good things about the early BL stuff going more mainstream but things like Heartstoppers didnt appeal beacuse of all the sad.
I wasmt to say that like 2010s was when I stsrted to see mainstream legit gay romance and genre, with real deal gay voices and thus no het lense
