this day back in 2017 I performed what is know as the "walking backwards Hail Mary" with a Nikon D3 and 24mm lens. a "Hail Mary" is when a news photographer holds the camera up high and shoots sight unseen hoping to get the shot. to walk backwards while working is equal parts faith and luck

I went to at least half a dozen protests in Raleigh during Trump's first term. March for Science, Women's March, HKonJ, you name it. No one's going to riot. Protests like this are morale boosters. Compliment the cool signs and bask in some positive energy from like-minded folks.

A few certain dudes' replies about genocide and drone strikes remind me of the self satisfied expression I saw during HKonJ (a large annual Civil Rights coalition march) on the face of the counterprotestor with the dinner table-sized pro Bernie Sanders sign.
