The challenge, of course, lies in determining how to operationalize this concept: what exactly does patient-centered communication look like in practice? To answer this « a cle discussion of the different terms that we might use to refer to those we work with in Bonetic counseling practice (counselee, client, consumer, patient), please refer to "Advanced genetic counseling: theory and practice" Biesecker et al., 2019). In this chapter, I will use "patient" for con-sistery with the literature in other areas of medicine around "patient-centered care."

12 years ago, the Supreme Court decided our genes can’t be patented. That landmark ruling protected access to genetic testing and medical innovation. Now, Congress is trying to undo it with the PERA act.

At Disney thinking of a patient my 1st yr as a genetic counselor who, after being told she had breast cancer AND a gene that meant aggressive treatment the week b4 Thanksgiving. She asked if it could wait bc she was going to Disney w/her grandkids. I was stunned #genechat 1/2
