I refer to sci-fi like this as "bullet sci-fi" in that it uses the weapons we have now, with only minimal futurizing. There are no phase weapons here. Some of the other tech includes computerized everything (villain is a tech bro), boutique plagues and poisons, and a "brainwashing" protocol.

what is the deal with futurizing, predicting what could possibly happen at some distant future? Our particular stream of political thought futurized about the place we are in now, and now that we are here-the futurizing window has changed and we are not prepared to deal with our now.

So sad. We could've had a LEGITIMATE President instead of a PINO. We could've continued the downward inflation and unemployment # s, the investment into futurizing our energy sector, the onshoring of IC mfg, the coverage of more and more Americans for healthcare, and more.

It was the sci-fi trope of futurizing a mundane thing. Instead of handing over a clipboard or folder of paper, you handed over an electronic device that replicated that function because FUTURE! But because it was just literal set dressing, they didn't think through the implications completely.
