This is how authoritarian regimes tighten control: by making examples out of dissenters until everyone self-censors.

In a free society, offensive speech is countered with more speech, not government coercion.

We must resist this chilling precedent before silence becomes the norm.

First they cancelled Stephen Colbert. Now they cancelled Jimmy Kimmel. Next it will be anyone who dares say anything MAGA does not approve.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

Saying a right-wing darling who was murdered said bad things will get you fired.

Saying homeless people should die and offering a weak apology allows you to keep your job.

It's been obvious for a while that they were headed in this direction, & this attempt almost certainly won't go unchallenged, but you need to understand that this is & has been America's Lysenkoism moment knocking on the door, & it has to be resisted every way it can.

After months of cowardly capitulation to this Administration, Paramount finally got what it wanted.

Now it's time for companies, journalists, and citizens alike to stand up and speak out, because unchecked and unquestioned power has no rightful place in America.

I dissent. 🧵

This is anti-worker and anti-veteran.

This does not make America great in any way. 🤬

I'm going to collect items about the suppression of #FreeSpeechInAmerica in this thread. Stories about the hypocrisy of the sort of people who think you can't say prayers in Scottish hospitals. More in sorrow than in anger
So, how are things going in the land of the free, some of whose inhabitants lecture the rest of us on free speech?/...
