my evil fanon human paraphrase design. the lock on his forehead has been turned into a small headband/headpiece. instead of a messy bun, para has a messy ponytail that points upwards (which is meant to represent the quills). they wear a sleeveless checkered shirt and high-waisted shorts, a belt separating the two. the regular clothes he has as well as his rings are all in their usual spots. notes (in counter-clockwise) "hairtie is just a hairtie, not a soul ring" -> "i imagine he's not very happy about the lack of symmetry" "ears" -> (pointing at the tuft of hair that resembles the original ears) "hair goes behind eyeliner" separate copy of the para doodle, the lock is transparent to reveal the triangular hairline underneath "lock is a hairpiece. can't be removed, but can be repositioned" -> "the hairline is hidden underneath the lock" "soul rings are still soul rings" -> "how did he get the clothes on with the rings in the way? whoooo knooowwsss..." i always think good writing starts with good research!! we're all inspired by lots of things, so it's important to give your mind enough fuel for the creative journey!!
oooo okay so first tackling getting started. i think i am correct in assuming we have the same illness where it's easier to creative for someone else than oneself. i do not have great advice for the latter cuz it usually takes a demon possessing me to write for myself AHA but for the former! honestly reading/refreshing yourself on as much canon/fanon/related material as is possible for the writing topic you have in mind is a good place to start!! i find this really helps set the overall tone im going for and usually helps me brainstorm the emotional plot beats i want to hit. taking my azulow zine piece for example, this included everything from character supports (for dynamics), to postgame epilogues (for worldbuilding), to relevant poto scenes (for setting), to reading up on how opera houses actually function. once ive done this im generally in a good place of mind to start outlining, which, is the only way i can write nowadays. the most important thing with outlines (and drafts in general) is that the words don't have to sound /good/ the first time around. i like to think of my outlines like lego, where i use the big chunky mega blocks in the beginning to nail down the structure/dynamics/key plot points/emotions, and then i can go in and swap out those blocks with the smaller, more complex ones, to flesh out phrases/words/whole sentences with more eloquent prose, as needed. sometimes things from your outline might make it word for word into the final cut! but don't feel beholden to it; it's a brochure with suggestions, not your finalized itinerary!

i am inspired by the fact that Fanon was a working psychiatrist when he made the wretched of the earth and we share a similar enough cultural background as afro-carribbean folks so I think that's what made me really resonate with his work. I'm actually trying to pitch something to the fanon

Bedbug is a villain I am sure not a lot of people know or a lot may have forgotten about him since he was only used in, two comics during Paul Dini's time on the Batman book? As the Timeless universe for Batman expanded, I decided to give Scarecrow some lackeys for a story arc that would warrant them, and here is what I came up for Bedbug! I envision him as an escaped Arkham patient who would be personally experimented on by Jonathan Crane, even before he turned into the Scarecrow, but after a divine presence speaks to Crane himself, after he becomes the villain he would need his own henchmen, and Bedbug would be born with the utilization of the infested bugs that were dosed in Crane's fear toxin formula. These bedbugs would then be controlled by Bedbug himself, using them to seep into a person's mind as they sleep, biting and eventually eating their way through the bran to control Gothamites like zombies. He wears a straight jacket with a bed sheet from his padded cell, he manages to get a single arm loose from the confines of the jacket and he has a hand-stiched mask made of leather, pleather, and other materials around the asylum that Crane could offer to his subject. He has no name or identity after he was turned into Bedbug, as when Batman would unmask him, his face would have been practically chewed away at by these Bedbugs around him, until he [probably] meets a gruesome end like that one dude in Kingdom of the Crystak Skull with the ants. Ragdoll is literally Sam from Trick 'r Treat mixed with a traditional Scarecrow design, and the Ragdoll design from The Batman 2004, like how a lot of other designs in this series are inspired off of that show. He is the second member of what Crane calls 'The Acolytes of Fear' and always seen with Bedbug as they commit crimes, though in different fashions. Where Bedbug gets into your head and controls you from within, Ragdoll plays off the fear of pediophobia, where he enters the house of a victim and can change his size to be a lil' ragdoll that was given to little Carl as a birthday gift, that dad conveniently forgot. This makes Ragdoll a good spy and informant/assassin for Scarecrow's little group project. He's very lanky to give the usual Ragdoll sense both in the common tropes of an actual ragdoll, and the DC character itself with him being able to slip through cracks and crevices to make a quick getaway. He has the same button eye and stitched up look that Sam would have with a few more stitches and even different fabrics sewn together to give it more of a put-together look, that and the suit would be very droopy, as you can see with that feet! Punchline is the bass guitar player in Joker's band, THE MANIAX. I realized I never gave a full breakdown of what the roles in the band are, so here's a quick shot: Joker - Lead Singer/Guitarist Harley Quinn - Rhythm Guitar Punchline - Base Guitar Bob - Drums Not too different from the usual Punchline design, but I made it black and white to match Joker & Harley, as well as give her bits of purple in her hair to keep Punchline's main color in tact! She's definitely a more typical e-goth you'd see but, to be fair, Joker & Harley literally look like Hot Topic ads. And if you couldn't tell, I did use the old Brofist logo as a base for her belt buckle. ain't no way any of them are fans of Pewdiepie though, Joker's nuts but he doesn't have a bridge moment. Maniax is clean- Bob was based on the character of the same name from the 1989 movie and that was it: the Number 1 Guy... Until he got killed by Joker. I decided to base this off of a Spirit Halloween clown costume because I ran into a fork in the road when deciding what to do for Bob... I always imagined him being the most lowkey of the MANIAX and he would still be an accomplice in the crimes Joker commits with his band, but he's there to serve as the drummer and getaway driver for the group, so he's kinda just... There. His main flair I gave him would be the star shaped sunglasses and the crazy orange hair that was inspired off of Captain Clown from The Animated Series! I imagine Bob would have the best fate out of the MANIAX, he would just go to jail, serve his time, and then be a free man to be another band's drummer. Bob is just Bob.

Having watched both Fanon biopics focusing on Blida now, Abdenour Zahzahs strikes me as a particularly focused reflection, instilling in the viewer more the situation in which Fanon found himself and inspired his particular anticolonialism.
