#Constantinopolis
West and east, west and east, south and north, west and east.

Unite and divide, unite and divide, west and east, unite and divide.

So goes the cycle of Romes.

Maybe, just maybe, the story of the polis ending in Late Antiquity might not be true. We must not forget there was one very imposing polis, among many others in Byzantine Asia Minor - Constantinopolis. If we recognize the Greco-Roman form of the polis as Ma did, things suddenly seem much different.

Does anyone know what is chronologically the latest tetradrachm issue in the Roman Empire or elsewhere? Is it these weird commemorative (?) Constantine I tetradrachms minted in Constantinople? #Numismatics

Even the Hagia Sophia itself was a church and built by Emperor Justinian I and the founder of Constantinopolis (Constantine the great) was one who expanded the city..

Like if I was a Christian I’d be travelling here a lot

Constantinopolis was the name of the city in greek, and also it meant city of constantine, so the guys name was "guy from the city of constantine" tho most just called it "polis" or "the city"

So this is a guy named like "Austin City Texas guy" instead of just Austin
