A cool thing I learned at the cephalopod conference is that squid embryos actually look out of their capsules while they're developing and learn what prey will be available to hunt after they hatch. 🧪🐡🦑
A pencil sketch scanned from my notebook (handwritten notes are visible from the other side of the page) of a squid egg capsule. It's a lumpy elongate shape attached to the seafloor by a short stalk and containing about a dozen round eggs. Faint squid embryos are scribbled in all the eggs, but two are rendered in darker lines and more detail. One of these gazes hungrily to the left of the capsule, where a small shrimp in the water blows a raspberry back at the embryo. The words I'M GONNA EAT YOU fill the egg space around the embryo. The other rendered embryo stares angrily to the right of the capsule, where a tiny fish swims quickly in the other direction. The words YOU BETTER SWIM fill the egg space around this embryo, and its arms are coiled so it looks like it's shaking its fists.

That is a bit of an amateur snake! One of my cats presented me with this 6ft long slim grass snake.
Black cat curiously sniffing a long coiled grass snake, still alive and wriggling, on the kitchen floor inside a house. The snake had been brought in by a tabby and white cat (which is in the background) who had carried it up a flight of stairs.

This is the Volatility Paradox. After 2008, global central banks built a specific weapon to try and tame it, called the Counter-Cyclical Capital Buffer (CCyB). This restricts lending, forcing spreads to widen slightly, preventing the "coiled spring" from getting too tight. But there's a loophole.

Hi Octayvia, Thanks for your order and for writing in! We'd be happy to assist you with this. :) We reviewed your order and can confirm you were sent a FutureHoop Pro in 33"OD, 5/8" Translucent Lilac tubing, though the hoop has been coiled down for shipping. You'll want to remove the shipping cuff that is keeping the two ends of the hoop together. The cuff is white, a different color than the rest of the tubing, and it is labeled. To do this, gently pull one end away from the cuff, then take the cuff off the other end of the tubing. From there, carefully uncoil the hoop so that you can connect the ends together to form the hoop. The tubing may need to rest on the floor or a little gentle flexing once snapped back into place to round out. It's normal for it to have a slight memory of the coiled shape, but you should be able to easily get it back into shape:) If you feel like there's still something off with the hoop, please send us a photo and we'll take our next step. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, we're always happy to help! :) Thanks again! Moodhoops lilac led hula hoop coiled up in its shipment box.
