Congrats! I want to do something similar after Cocodona next May, but part of me feels like I'd lose my mental edge and eventually slip into old habits again. It feels a little irrational, but I'M irrational 😅

Having the knowledge of this good year in my beck pocket will be a powerful reminder.

Same run as yesterday, not quite as smooth. But I've done 6 runs and 40 miles in the past 7 days. Crawling back towards normalcy ahead of my Cocodona plan! Which will be anything but normal. #running

My HRV is still in the toilet, but resting heart rate has gone back to pre-race levels the past couple nights. I no longer feel like I have a bruised bone in my foot. Lot of things to monitor on these runs as I continue to recover into Cocodona training in three weeks.

I'm a "control the controllables" guy to a fault, and my appetite straight up disappears during a race. Which leads to me self-fueling even with an embarrassment of delicious food on the course. I'd like to be able to rely on solid food more, especially with Cocodona 250 on the horizon

Greetings from the Great Smokys! If I had hills like this at home I'd be ready for Cocodona by Christmas! I took care to not blow up my legs the week before the race, but I otherwise gladly would have. Not even a peep from my ankle, thankfully. Absolutely magnificent run. #running

Whether your dream is a stable job, having kids, writing a novel, supporting your parents, or finishing Cocodona. To care and to thoughtfully attempt in today's painful world is an act of rebellion in itself. Live passionately. Start with empathy. Seek joy. Care about things. Don't lose yourself.

Gotta stack miles for the hundred miler, then Cocodona next May! Dunno if it's the most efficient approach to training, but being able to handle this much time on feet makes me feel a little more assured about those big scary race distances

I’ll admit, I was shocked when you posted that you signed up for Cocodona before having completed your first 100. But you have plenty of time and appear to be doing all the right things. It won’t be easy but few things worth doing are. To be honest I’m kind of jealous.

I got a little excited while watching this year's Cocodona coverage, and started a little logistics spreadsheet. Budgeting, pacing, just trying to get an idea of what it would take to do something like that. A week later I was talking it over with my partner, expecting to be shot down. I signed up.

Man, when Tadej Pogačar decides to go, he just GOES, damn. Doesn't matter what sport, elite athletes just put my jaw on the floor.

Olivia Reeves snatching like 330 pounds yesterday, Tadej...everyday, this year's Cocodona/Western States/Hardrock winners...incredible

But I need novelty to stay interested in things. So I sign up for races, and set up training plans to get me there. That has worked well for a long time, but there are diminishing returns as the races get longer. A 24 hour race - and Cocodona next year - are on the extreme end of that. So why?

Got to watch the beginning and the first runner cross the finish line of Western States 100 on the livestream a few days ago and wow… I thought I would get bored, but the commentators made it enjoyable. I wonder if the multiple-day livestream for Cocodona 250 will be the same.

Q: Does [the Cocodona 250] hold any appeal for you?

A: See, this is the problem, because as soon as I say no, I’ll be there next year, you know?
For Boston Marathon winner Des Linden, retirement means running longer distances
It’s hard to imagine a more illustrious running career than Des Linden’s. The 41-year-old ASU alum is a winner of the Boston Marathon and has been an Olympian twice.

I've always had a tendency to avoid difficult things. If I want to do Cocodona, I have to be proactive and tackle difficult things in the other areas of my life too. Be reliable. Do the hard things now. Learn to love the grind. It's the only way I'll keep going when things get hard. #running
