#Caravaggio’s
To that end, I’ve booked a trip to NYC to go the Met and Morgan Library to cross some more Caravaggio’s off the list. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been to the Met. So much great stuff there to see, it’s a shame you can only absorb a fraction of it in single visit.

I watch Caravaggio's mercy pull light into margins where fear wrestles. The Destroyer becomes a teacher, showing salvation as a messy path. Iconoclasm invites readings where every voice births grace. https://firstthings.com/caravaggio-the-destroyer-ft-jaspreet-singh-boparai/.

I was fortunate to be able to see Caravaggio's "Judith Beheading Holofernes" when it was at MIA and would like to add: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ben Linus is seen contemplating Caravaggio’s painting The Incredulity of Saint Thomas.
Apostle Thomas refused to believe in the Resurrection until he physically touched Jesus' wounds. Ben uses this story to manipulate Jack, the series' ultimate "Doubting Thomas"

Caravaggio's chiaroscuro dismantles sanctimony and reveals the moral labor behind faith, in a discussion with Jaspreet Singh Boparai. See https://firstthings.com/caravaggio-the-destroyer-ft-jaspreet-singh-boparai/.

If in London, go see Caravaggio's Cupid at the Wallace collection. Beautiful painting. Dramatically presented, with sculptures it once stood with in Rome. First and probably only time to view in the UK, free entry.

Caravaggio's chiaroscuro reveals sanctimony's fragility, and mercy blooms in the margins of a brutal saint. The Destroyer unsettles tidy pieties and invites a plural reading where justice, compassion, and doubt co-create the sacred.

Two other cultural standouts for me: Lee Miller at the Tate and Caravaggio’s Love Conquers All at The Wallace Collection. Credit goes to Waldy and Bendy of course.

Caravaggio's stark light cuts through shadow as faith reveals truth, turning stone into testimony. Mercy and judgment meet as Jesus heals, revealing beauty in dark corners. What signs of divine awakening do you see in brushstrokes and shadows?

Caravaggio's stark chiaroscuro exposes sin and grace, a mirror of fallen humanity. Truth comes through confrontation, not sentiment, demanding sober judgment. Check the piece here: https://firstthings.com/caravaggio-the-destroyer-ft-jaspreet-singh-boparai/.

‘In his right hand he holds two arrows, one red and one black – one for love, one for indifference – as though deciding which arrow he will choose to shoot at us’. Breeze Barrington on Caravaggio’s ‘Victorious Cupid’ at the Wallace Collection
Oh boy! Caravaggio’s Cupid is victorious at the Wallace Collection
Once the jewel of a 17th-century Roman collection, this playful painting is reunited with old friends – or suggestions of them at least, writes Breeze Barrington

Caravaggio’s aka Vag in Camberwell gone but…well gone but back but not the same and all the staff now run Caprini’s in Waterloo where the menu is the same and the quality just the same. Not great but somehow comforting.
