New paper finds rampant illegal shark fin trafficking, despite >100 threatened sharks and rays being listed on CITES in the past 20 years.

A point here though is AGWG does not “do research”, instead deriving from existing research (or not, as the case may be).

The guidelines we created with APCA are derived from existing, authoritative peer reviewed research, key cites listed on the link I gave earlier.

Their size makes them iconic, but it results in a slow life history (i.e., grows slowly, matures late, and produce few offspring).
