A key part of Benjamin Franklin's legacy was early demographic research, uncovering the remarkable acceleration in growth.
And there would be many many Daniel Boones racing ahead.

From the beginning, US territories, governed by the feds, were less than states, each more like a despotic oligarchy with subjects

I clearly can't control myself in #Egyptian bookshops!

I've somehow brought 25 new books back with me from this trip, a mix of Egyptian fiction (my current obsession), Arabic language books and non-fiction on Cairo and Egypt's modern history, politics & popular culture

Later "squatters" became "pioneers." In the late 1800s the country was a violently expansive empire, feeding on land and displacing everything in its path 5/

I can say this with no reservation; that Sheri S. Tepper is one of the most underrated authors I’ve ever encountered. Good god she goes hard. I think she’s passed now, but just wow, woman. Says out loud what nobody else was saying even in a whisper. #bookskeet

We know ourselves better than anyone else. We have stories that we want to tell. We should tell them." 1/

I posted this 2 weeks ago, have read 3 books since, and remembered to put exactly zero of them on GoodReads. I'm so good at bookskeet. 💙📚
why is it harder to make sure I update my GoodReads than it is to plow through two books every week?

Anyway, just finished We Ate The Dark by Mallory Pearson. A really good debut novel, though about halfway through the beautiful, haunting descriptions started feeling plain ol verbose. 💙📚

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Democracy May Not Exist, But We’ll Miss it When Its Gone

The next chapter covers civil disobedience and how the regulatory agenda actually is set. Often, it seems that little of what voters want is being delivered, as corporations have speech and other rights now.

Okay, bookskeet. I need recs- gimme all your current scifi, horror and fantasy titles (no preorders, please) that feature trans women characters?

And no. Putting her in as the friend of the protag with two lines does not count as featured.
