I'm still live, and I should have tagged both #BlackEduSky and #EduSky because I'm doing work to get ready for the return to school on Monday. Also, don't forget to turn your alarms back on if you're going back to school Monday.

Hey #BlackEduSky, any good books by Black educators for Black educators, specifically in the areas of classroom management or building relationships with students (especially in a predominantly white setting)?

Summarizing is more than just condensing, it helps readers see the ideas presented in any text.

There’s a lot to discuss where this topic is concerned. There is not just one simple answer. Some of the many comments up under this post hit on some of the reasons, while others miss the mark completely.

“Asking teachers to adopt new tools without removing old requirements is a recipe for burnout.”

I wanna to send this to every ed. leader and policy maker in this state. I have yet (and refuse) to use canvas for this reason. IT’S TOO MUCH!!!

Teacher Affirmation 🗣️

Once your work day is wrapped up, get in your car and sit for a moment. Think about 2 things you will do for yourself before your head hits the pillow. And do both.

So forgive me because I forgot some days. Life, ya know?

To educators 🗣️

You are worthy of affirmation. You wear many hats each day. Somewhere I read that teachers are tired at the end of the day cause you make more decisions per hour than a surgeon.

Rest.

I have seen the same thing just in my limited time with middle school students. In fact, I have seen them with ANY down time just on random things, such as games, YouTube shorts, and soundboards. I have seen them as more of a distraction than a source of productivity.

Your effort is real and it shows in ways people overlook.

It's real because you show up on days you're exhausted. It's real even on days no one acknowledges it. Keep showing up. Your current reality isn't permanent.
