#BalletBC
if ever there is a large public gathering in vancouver where daring fashion is welcome and safe, with a large queer contingent to boot, balletbc is probably it… and outside i will have a coat on of course 😁

i’m going to balletbc tomorrow night and ~obviously~ want to wear an eye-catching gown, and i like my hair enough today i’m seriously considering it, which means try-on time tonight yayyyyyyy 😊

There will now be a Ballet Vancouver and a BalletBC, both doing contemporary dance. Sure. Great. No one will ever confuse the two. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The second piece last night, Obsidian by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, also a world premiere, was AMAZING, the highlight of the show. Striking right from the start — first time I have seen BalletBC with live music (pianist on stage), the set up and costumes looking almost like ballroom

It’s a rainy cool day today, hopefully drier tonight when we go out on a date to see BalletBC… I need to make the most of an occasion to wear a fancy gown ❤️

Treating some lovely friends to DUSK — Ballet BC’s final show of the 2024/25 season at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. A perfect night to catch up and take in some incredible performances. Can’t wait!

Sucedió ayer en IG (2025/04/22). Gracias a la cuenta oficial del Ballet BC (@BalletBC) supimos que #CelineDion disfrutó de pequeña actuación privada para a posteriori saludar a los bailarines y en especial a su director.

Ready to go be transfixed and cry and get goosebumps at BalletBC tonight!

And not get freaked out by my therapist being there too!

Debating my current outfit, or five gowns, two of which I wore already to BalletBC, one of which I could wear any day… if I eliminate those it feels like the white lace dress (with an imperfect fit) I had intended may fall to my slinky black birthday dress I know I feel amazing in

I’m going to see BalletBC tonight (eeeeek!!! ❤️) and realizing I don’t feel it’s crucial I wear a knockout dress, for the first time. I could stick with this lovely subtle LBD I have on for the day?

(95% chance I will nevertheless wear a special occasion gown)

Apart from occasional goofiness and disastrous pre-wedding ballroom classes, I didn’t dance for my first 46 years.

but in 2020 I started with a therapist who is also a professional dancer/choreographer which sparked curiosity,

2022 an article about BalletBC got me to go see my first show…

I have told this story before, maybe here. But anyways.

My first ever dance thing, a one-off workshop through BalletBC exploring mostly movement but also visual art and writing connected to the movement, back in spring 2023. Nervous but excited going in. Yes I cried like a baby at times and there

Two years ago I went to my first ever contemporary dance performance, a BalletBC show, after reading an interview about it by chance and finding myself intrigued (and generally feeling I needed for culture in my life).

It was world-shaking, discovering a deep passion in me I didn't know was there!

It takes two to tango, but Shahar Binyamini’s extraordinary “Bolero X” requires 50 dancers on stage, premiered in 2023 in Vancouver with BalletBC, set to Ravel’s music in a wild underwater-esque crescendo of movement, and— sorry, where were we?

I love this choreography by Jorma Elo. And Sibelius’ violin concerto is one of my very favorites. So happy to see this staged again by @BalletBC. Highly recommended contemporary #dance performance!...

A fun thing we did yesterday. One child had many—too many—questions. The other didn’t like me talking and explaining things. The usual sibling, shall we say, differences. Other than that we had a good time.

I love the directions in which Emily Molnar has taken @BalletBC: "Critics celebrated that the program, work by Crystal Pite, Sharon Eyal & Molnar herself, showcased 3 female choreographers. It made Molnar proud to think that wasn’t unusual for her troupe."...
