 Eight rules of antiauthoritarianism RULE #8 Keep Going. How Poland’s pro-democracy forces endured in moments of darkness Persevere and use the democratic tools that still exist. Speak out. The ability to raise your voice against the government, even when it takes courage to do so, means there is still democratic space to act. Organize and mobilize. Build a big-tent of parties and leaders who can activate citizens across the ideological spectrum, united against the authoritarian threat. Cast your vote. If you are still able to cast a vote that 
will count, even if the playing field is tilted, 
there is still an opening for pro-democracy change. Lesson learned: For eight years, Poland’s autocratic government attempted to silence its critics and entrench its rule. But pro-democracy Poles seized windows of opportunity to speak out, mobilize, and cast their ballots against the ruling party’s overreach. But in a Nietzschean view, one which drops the reality-appearance distinction, to change how we talk is to change what, for our own purposes, we are. To say, with Nietzsche, that God is dead, is to say that we serve no higher purposes. The Nietzschean substitution of self-creation for discovery substitutes a picture of the hungry generations treading each other down for a picture of humanity approaching closer and closer to the light. A culture in which Nietzschean metaphors were literalized would be one which took for granted that philosophical problems are as temporary as poetic problems, that there are no problems which bind the generations together into a single natural kind called "humanity." A sense of human history as the history of successive metaphors would let us see the poet, in the generic sense of the maker of new words, the shaper of new languages, as the vanguard of the species.

GenZ Madagascar deserves to own the “pirate” meme (show here with a traditional Malagasy cap). In ~1700 pirate societies in Madagascar were years ahead of the European “Enlightenment”: antiauthoritarianism, gender equality, and democracy.
