this was AJR's birthright and they fumbled it

i think about this one comment i read about AJR's "The World is a Marble Heart", where they wrote that it sounded like AJR was trying to make hyperpop but lacked a transgender mindset

Who doesn't love having an existential crisis when listening to AJR's music? The Maybe Man album destroyed me from start to finish, so I had to draw something for this album

The big goodbye is really funny to me because it’s ajr’s consensus best song yet it shares soo much dna with many of ajr’s consensus worst songs. I genuinely believe that the big goodbye is their “default song” and it’s one of the most fascinating in their discog for that exact reason.

'Institutions matter for development' is a taken-for-granted assumption in much development theory. In economics, North's work on this is an earlier example of Nobel-winning theoretical construction predating AJR's.

Chen rightly argues, the question of 'good' of institutions takes precedence here.

Here is my potted history of institutions in macro-development thinking -- just prior to the AJR intervention. I thought it would be brief, but it may have gone to 50 posts. Sorry. I do not discuss AJR specifically here, just the context prior to AJR. But I do leave 2 brief thoughts on AJR's impact.
Here is my extremely brief (potted) history of institutions in macro-development thinking -- just before the AJR intervention. I had most of these thoughts prior to the Nobel week, but now they are crystallising.

We're starting off June with stories of shipwrecks and students showcasing their best work. Plus: AJR's Adam Met + special guest Governor Jay Inslee will stop by for a book talk on creating change!

And as always, you can get tickets and see all of our events at thsea.org 🎟

I didn’t know I wanted this! Now all that’s left is to wait for AJR’s next single and this year’s music will be awesome 💖

Great song. Both this song and Kodachrome really hit the feels. The only other song that hits me in the feels like these two is AJR's Don't Throw Out My Legos.

Maybe it's because I have a huge life change with the move to Chile coming up fast, but these three songs are on my playlist a lot lately.

AJR’s ‘Burn The House Down’ mv
some things that remind me of this scene 🎯⭐️

• sabrina’s ‘because i liked a boy’ mv
• taylor’s Red tour
• american horror story s4 ep6 ‘Bullseye’

not to mention the masked man standing in front of a clock before throwing the knives ⏰

September 5, 2025 at 10:36 PM
My sound aura is basically just AJR's The Click 😂

In AJR's first full year (2014-2015), the most read essay was Jacob Feely's "The Understudied and Marginal Josephus: Bringing Him into the Conversation." #AJRAnniversary

Except in the ever-wise words of AJR's 3 O'Clock Things: "But then I would've had to spend my best years skipping ads and reading comments" I'm not sure college in America is worth it, but it's the best I got right now. I wish it could at least be in another country

I'm really sympathetic to anyone who's raised an eyebrow at AJR's methodology. Unfortunately equally as many people seem to be writing this off because "macro is a fake field", which is a pretty half-baked dismissal
