AFTK is probably still my favourite. Not a duff track on it. (Ok Madrigal is throwaway but at least it's short 🤣)

Musical categories don’t work great for Rush. They did what pleased them and it really pleases me. All of it! I love COS, but today Rush Fans are all about AFTK. From #RushFamily ‘s QV: “Happy A Farewell To Kings Day, released September 1, 1977

If this meant only lyrics, yes. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson were writers on every track on AFTK. Neil Peart was primarily the lyricist, with only occasional credits for music, in this case, 2.

Released today in 1977. One amazing album. #AFTK #Rush

I cannot bring myself to do a top albums list.

I will say, however, that you can start at AFtK and go through Power Windows and you would have a run of 7 perfect albums in a row.

Not even a mediocre song to be found on 7 consecutive albums.

Quite the run IMO.

I’d give A Farewell To Kings a go next and if you like that move on up through the years - AFTK is my fav of theirs so I’m biased

I've been thinking about it since I bought AFTK in 1979

Since I grew up with the Mission Impossible theme, and was introduced to Rush in seventh grade (via AFTK), I just never realized they were different. I don't hear them, though I hear their effects. Like 5/4 feels propulsive to me.

And you're right. It's pure wizardry.

The start of their imperial phase, for me!

“2112” is, *ducks*, a tad overrated if you ask me. (I appreciate nobody did ask me, but-hey!-I’m opinionated when it comes to Rush.)

That run from 77-82 contains my five favourite Rush albums:

1. “MP”
2. “PW”
3. “H”
4. “S”
5. “AFTK”

Listening to this album all the way through was actually my very first Rush experience ever, so I'm pretty nostalgic for it. Looking back, I think its B side does A LOT of heavy lifting.

Also hope Primus plays this one live like they did for AFtK. Would love to see them do "La Villa Strangiato".

Rush is my personal favorite. I think a lot of their albums are “perfect” but my favorites always rotate between AFTK, Hemispheres, and Presto.
