The Second Illain rebellion began when House Illain of the Cymonean Vale moved against the seemingly weak Archcrown, after the ascension of Lorn II who was just five years old at the time. In an effort to solidify their tenuous alliegiance with the Western houses of the Gates, the Archprince Regent, Illyrios, negotiated a new alliance with House Naufagium-Isharyn, sealed with the betrothal of the Archking and the similarly young scion of House Naufagium-Isharyn, the Lady Sephyr.
