Meet the Allen's Hummingbird, a tiny Bay Area bird with a big attitude!

These small dynamic birds zip through coastal sage scrub and gardens like they own the place. Allen's Hummingbirds weigh less than a nickel and migrate hundreds of miles each year!

We’ve got a real cutie for this week’s #SpeciesSpotlight – the #BobtailSquid 🦑

- Bobtail squid are a group of #cephalopods related to #cuttlefish but they have a rounder mantle and no cuttlebone
- These critters are actually pretty small – about the size of your thumb 👍

We sharing a #SpeciesSpotlight on one of our favourite marine creatures, the frogfish 🐸

Frogfish are experts at blending into their surroundings, often resembling coral or sponges. They can also change colour, but unlike some other marine animals, this process can take days or weeks.
