I am ugly-crying bc my book now has blurbs from two of my heroes, @kimberlyeatkins.bsky.social and @dreugeniacheng.bsky.social. They said nice things so of course my brain can't handle it and I will be using therapy to deal with my feelings of undeserving-ness. press.princeton.edu/books/hardco...

It's no wonder that so few of the public can understand the bare basics of epidemiology, public health, systems modelling, risk, economics, etc; when that's the low standards of mathematics teaching and policy wonks the system is cranking out. I'd be telling kids to skip class and self-learn it too!

The American strength is in Finance, Economy, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine that drives innovation and military strength. Law is different everywhere including the Anglosphere unlike those aforementioned fields. America needs to focus on its strengths, and not its religions
It is a failed thesis that Islam is pro-Left and Christianity, Judaism, and Indian religions Hinduism/Buddhism/Sikhism/Jainism are pro-Right. Only bona fide bozos believe in that modeling and it won't work in this century. That thesis helps win elections only in the US due to massive bozo population
This video educates that the Right-wing has given up on the US. I don't even consider the BJP, the new party from the 1980 which Modi belongs to, a proper Right-wing.
Only bozos in Western media and the world think of the BJP as Right-wing as it is Pro-poor, Pro-socialism.

A mathematician explores why equality in mathematics resists formal definition, and how computer theorem provers expose gaps in our foundational intuition. #mathematicallogic

admired his father, but first and foremost he was a mother's boy. He was always very smart and connected early on with Rigantona's interest in mathematics. As the oldest sibling he was a sort of mediator when the younger ones (including cousins) would bicker. He was very close with Cassia and 6/14

I dunno, I thought university level mathematics was quite a step up. But with sufficient vision you could do it with a relatively low workload.

Mr Nakamura became fascinated thirty years later with the underlying mathematics (ie Fibonacci patterns) of nature and his ‘Number Structure’ paintings visualize mathematical patterns and elements. So lyrical and smart.

#BOTD 10 Dec 1815 Ada Lovelace <3

Seen here in her most famous portrait, by Margaret S.Carpenter. Ada herself disliked the image, reportedly quipping:

'I conclude she is bent on displaying the whole expanse of my capacious jaw bone, upon which I think the word Mathematics should be written.'

I love the fact that Recreational Mathematics is a legitimate hobby and you can buy magazines on the subject. I sometimes wish we could have “Recreational Law”: dealing with legal puzzles and games unconnected to the real world.

nice quote by Andrew Wiles: "mathematics, it is never easy, not even for mathematicians. mathematicians struggle with mathematics even more than the general public." (43:25) generally a balm to the soul to hear academics tell a story untainted by the Ted-format.
