Trump: "I heard that number today -- half of Gaza would leave. I've always said it. I said if they were given the opportunity to live in a better climate, they would move. We're helping the people of Gaza a lot. So is Israel, by the way."

Case in point: Netanyahu appears to have persuaded Trump to vow support for strikes on Iran if they continue their ballistic missile program - a prescription of the endless war he had promised voters he would seek to avoid.
Theoretically, one would expect power to reside with Trump, given Israel's dependence on the US; in practice, there are many intervening political variables that have given Netanyahu the edge - which is why many even in the America First movement worry that Netanyahu can push Trump toward more war.
