Our agency is being directed to rename AWIPS/GFE maps to "Gulf of America" per Trump’s EO. Let’s be clear: U.S. maritime jurisdiction stops at 12 nm, no further.

This is a distraction and a waste of federal worker time while real issues go ignored. It’s the Gulf of Mexico, btw.

BREAKING: The mass firing of upwards of 1,800 workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, including top climate scientists and weather forecasters, has begun.

The firings reportedly include workers at the National Weather Service.

This is exhausting. 16 Dems vote to confirm the nomination of Dan Driscoll (JD Vance's college buddy) to Secretary of the Army.

It's hard to admit that you were wrong. It isn't hard to admit that you were lied to and you want to make things better. We must unite against the common enemy that seeks to profit off of our demise.

I was on a call today at work and heard there are firefighting crews and equipment from Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec assisting California. The fact that this country wants to put tariffs on Canada, one of our longest standing allies is simply asinine.

Trump just withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

The US now joins Iran, Libya, and Yemen as the only countries in the world not in the agreement.

Criswell: Firefighter for 12 years, Desert Storm veteran, head of NYC emergency management, confirmed to lead FEMA unanimously

Clyde: gun shop owner who sued IRS, rode that fight to Congress in 2020 in a blood-red Georgia district

One of them has a career based on identity politics, all right.
Rep. Andrew Clyde refers to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell as a "DEI hire"

One thing I learned researching my book is that China's climate legislation requires there to be climate-change courses in secondary and undergraduate education.

It also institutes and funds departments of climate change and "ecological civilization" studies in all Chinese universities.
I want to pause here and acknowledge the colossal and accelerating contribution that Chinese researchers are making in the fields of climate and sustainability. This is chronically overlooked in the Anglosphere. Easily half of the most significant papers I've read recently were by Chinese authors.
"We show that 31–67% and 51–91% of the planetary boundary breaching responsibility could be attributed to the global top 10% and top 20% of consumers, respectively."

Any economic agenda, even the "abundance" agenda, must deal with this scientific finding, no?

Ohio river not looking good with no potential rainfall in the next 28. Anyone think this recession will cause the saltwater wedge to overtop the sill?

Probably a loaded and vague question but I’m gonna shoot my shot - any emergency managers (or really anyone remotely associated with the EM world) use artificial intelligence for data mining or report writing? Or anything at all? Still pretty new at this and I am not sure what’s out there.

My paper that is coming out soon* is about why massive climate events in the 'First World' still won't lead to mitigation action.

The colonial, masculine fantasy of invulnerability is too definitive.

Extremely privileged and grateful to have visited the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK today. Got to meet a lot of amazing meteorologists and see the integral role they play in giving advance notice of severe weather. #weather #nws #noaa

So this saltwater intrusion coming up the Mississippi concerns me. No signs of slowing down and it looks to be a dry fall in the Ohio river valley.
