personally for me the fact they hold on to the Driver IP with zero plans of anything for it outside a TV series everyone knew wasn't happening still makes me hope they get completely broken up in some form.

even in the face of a one race championship format, this feels just awful. You do everything right and just rotten luck and outside factors cost it for you. This is why racing shouldn't have a forced winner take all scenario. It's just fluky and manufacturing a wild moment.

like. We really are crowning the champion, the best driver of the season based on a hail mary move, beyond regulation, over a guy who led 80% of the race, climbed back up the field, overcomed slow stops, won the most races in the season, and at the time of the caution had a 3 second lead?

The manufacturing of "oh all the season comes down to an overtime finish and also hamlin is blocked by a few cars that took 2 tires and aren't a part of the championship". Then larson wins and WOW WHAT AN UPSET ISN'T THAT A GAME 7 MOMENT. It's not. Larson crew threw a hail mary and won it all.

Larson hasn't won a race in may and essentially coasted on good finishes. Yeah he drove good, by all accounts is a suitable champion. But why does it feel so unrewarding? Larson was nowhere the entire race and didn't even lead a lap. Just barely got into the championship and just was there.
