Sassenach in Scotland
Meanwhile in Scotland, where ultra-rapid charging hubs are few and far between, this site “will increase dependency on car travel contrary to policy which seeks to address the climate emergency by applying a spatial strategy which helps reduce emissions.”

For a split-moment I thought Evri had sponsored / renamed Snowdonia!

That's a sample of the recent storms that caused memorable damage, but here's a more thorough timeline of all the storms that had peak gusts > 60 mph since 2006, and a few other notable storms.

Fun? Beaufort 12, hurricane force, winds all day tomorrow! From 8am until 8pm!
January 23, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Yes, I know, you didn’t need to blast a siren through my headphones to alert me to this fact!
January 23, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Which is fine, but do they really need to startle everyone at rush hour with a loud klaxon for an alert that doesn’t require immediate attention? The US use an emergency alert system that is quiet if it’s not time critical: alerts such as these appear all the time without distracting you.

UKV predicting 88mph winds in Glasgow tomorrow
January 23, 2025 at 4:28 PM
You can also pick your favourite weather model. UKV is predicting the strongest wind gusts, which seems to align with the Met Office app.

I’ve installed a new weather app to mark the occasion. Windy.Com. A bit annoying it only gives 3 hour intervals for free, but I like the layout and information density.
