When I was a kid, my mother (a prolific reader) had a copy on one of her bookshelves. It was definitely one of the thicker books on the shelf. I found the big red swastika on the binding spine intriguing. I eventually pulled it out and read it, probably at age 14, and read it again when I was 30.

James Michener novels ("Hawaii", "Alaska", "The Covenant", et.al.) tend to start at the dawn of time -- literally neolithic in many of them -- and bring their stories up to contemporary times (or at least when Michener wrote them). You can learn a lot of history reading Michener books.

Buck had a TV show called "The Buck Owens Ranch Show" (or just "The Buck Owens Show") before Hee Haw. The show continued even through the Hee Haw Years. This first episode really highlights Don Rich.

James is a good person. I've known him since he was in high school as a friend to my kids who all went to McNeil HS in north Austin. Like many Christians who I respect, his perspective on religion is inclusive.
So he has my vote and my recurring monthly donation.

I'll admit, though, there's a lot of overlap between the religious and conservatives in these cases.

The religious aren't the only group redefining words.
Consider the "conservative" (and I use the term loosely) definitions of:
Social justice = racism toward whites.
DEI (and it's individual components of diversity, equity, and inclusion) = racism toward whites.
Woke = racism toward whites.

So part of my 'activism' this week has been to cancel Disney+. I'll re-up with them in a few days when I see how the reinstatement of Kimmel works out.
And even though I never take acetaminophen I'm going to buy a couple bottles of Tylenol.

Every family I know with autistic family members, regardless of politics, spend a significant fraction of their time and money with support groups that help promote and endow resources for the autistic. And every one of them knows more about autism that Trump or RFKjr.

I've seen several people suggest canceling Disney, but the biggest reaction I saw was over on the Alt National Park Service thread (@altnps.bsky.social). It's got over 3.5K replies and it seems like at least 1/3 of them have said they cancelled.
