I watched the interview that got people upset about Zohran Mamadani. Host asked about phrases used by protesters, and he talked about tackling antisemitism, about people's genuine frustrations re Israeli policy, & about Arabic words being misconstrued.

That's not anti-Semitic, it's anti-semantic.

From the puppet show Yeets & Kates:
h/t: @sarahavery.bsky.social

Kates: Beauty is truth, truth beauty
Yeets: You're so full of..."passionate intensity."
Kates: That is all ye know on earth
Yeets: Maybe all you know.
Kates: And all ye need to know.
Yeets: The center cannot hold.

Sigh. I'm always too slow in doing these things. Finally came up with a good answer last night, about how I saved my family $8 billion a month by hiring a plumber who identified a leak in the basement toilet. Only it's actually $800 per three months, and no guarantee that it's the real problem.
If you’re trying to start good trouble by emailing hr@opm.gov, please note they are load balancing by using hr0@opm.gov - hr19@opm.gov. Additionally, they have stated in their PIA that they block non-government emails, but I haven’t verified that. Also, they’re likely having AI read the replies.

remember, the blitzkrieg is intended to make you feel like there is nothing you can do about it; that’s the only reason to go forward in this haphazard and sloppy manner all in the first week

and the choice of that strategy tells you they are afraid you *will* do something about it

My question is how to discuss this without coming off as angry, condescending, or impatient. I mean, I get that there's been a lot of propaganda flooding the zone, and not everyone knows how to tell what's what. But how do you explain "This is reality. That is not," without insulting someone?
Seriously, though. Lotta people are about to realize their mistake. You can make them feel bad, which will be momentarily satisfying. Or you can help them have an epiphany.

One of those two things is actually useful, going forward into a future where we're gonna need all the help we can get.
and the reason this is important is that politics have not stopped happening. trump is set to squander whatever goodwill he has with the voting public and this is an opportunity

Authoritarians are excited for power, not for authoritarianism itself. So when one authoritarian group takes control, other authoritarians aren't always thrilled about it.
My silver lining is that a lot of people saw Trump as a vehicle for more power and now they can fight each other.

In the years to come, becoming part of the problem may be part of the solution.

My favorite poem I've read in a long time is "Aboriginal Landscape" by Louise Glück. I love the way it conveys a sense of dreaming without playing up the fantastical, and how it offers comfort without false promises against the inevitability of death.

Darlings! Let's talk poetry. Quote skeet (sigh) this with a poem/poet you love and tell me what you love about it.

To me, there is so much magick in poetry. Even if you're not a fan of poetry in general, there is a poet out there for you, I promise.
