On Saturdays, I’m at the bowling alley. It’s a ragtag league of kids who have undying love for their coach. Right next to the Special Olympics league. It’s is three hours of joy, community, and fried food. ❤️

In fighting will not get us out of this. Approaching situations with a willingness to find common ground and build better systems requires that we are willing to work together even if we don’t like each other. Not everyone is in the same place of activism and we have to leave space to grow together.

One of the teens I know had to call me to thank me for a donation to her school. It is the sweetest, most awkward voicemail I have ever received and I can’t stop laughing. I love these kids so hard- their awkwardness and sincerity and the joy they bring me. Yes, baby, I’ll see you at bowling. ❤️

And 24/7 means all day every day. Sexual violence happens and we accept it as normal. I can’t talk about most of what I do, but this morning sitting where I am and reading about the new email is a special kind of rage.

Not everyone does activism in the same ways. There’s space for us all. If you don’t know how to get involved, ask the people you see doing the work you want to be involved in. I swear we are a friendly group and want you involved.

Prevention is what I do. And you know what? It’s affordable housing, healthcare, sustainable wages, and community. We take of us is what will get us there. Drugs, alcohol, DV, SV, guns, all of it. The prevention work is the same.

First the basics: The vast bulk of physical and sexual violence in our society is *not* perpetrated by strangers, but by people who know each other. Obscuring this fact is a critical feature of copaganda in the news. People are shocked to hear it. Why?
