I had a white prof in grad school who mispronounced his name throughout a lecture in 3 different ways until she finally said “Aurangzabub was a known religious extremist.”This problematic stereotype has been around for a long time, even academia. But now there’s real propaganda and consequences
All the news coverage I have seen on this growing issue focuses on Aurangzeb's grave. Notably, however, his grave is within a Sufi shrine, i.e., a Muslim religious space.

What we are seeing is a Hindu supremacist attack on Indian Muslims and their spaces of worship.

If you don’t know what this case is:

Woman gets restraining order against violent ex.

He violates it. She calls cops. They don’t come by.

Repeat several times.

Eventually, he murders her and daughters.

Family sues cops, said had obligation to respond and failed.

SCOTUS? “Nah, no obligation.”
Castle Rock v Gonzalez
Dionel is now asking for the first few episodes he should listen to. What’s the intro 5-4 episode you recommend?

Small victory in abortion legal battles. Thanks to all that worked on this brief. I’m still gathering narratives (anonymous of course) of Muslim abortion experiences in case anyone wants to reach out. The data is already proving helpful in legal battles. mailchi.mp/law.columbia...
